To be able to control your fan and do more sophisticated stuff we need to set some parameters on load time of the module.
Set the following content in the file
options thinkpad-acpi experimental=1 fan_control=1
Reload the module:
# rmmod thinkpad-acpi && modprobe thinkpad-acpi
Now you'll get more options in
/proc/acpi/ibm to control ACPI.
Note: All done in working directory
# cat fan status: enabled speed: 3051 level: 5 commands: level <level> (<level> is 0-7, auto, disengaged, full-speed) commands: enable, disable commands: watchdog <timeout> (<timeout> is 0 (off), 1-120 (seconds))
Set the level of the fan to full speed.
# echo "level full-speed" > fan
